Interuniversity Cooperation Program

The main purpose of this programme is to promote scientific cooperation and collaborative research between Spain and Latin American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Uruguay and Venezuela), sub-Saharan Africa (Angola, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger and Senegal) and North Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia). The programme’s aims are:

  • To contribute towards strengthening academic and research institutions in partner countries through activities aimed at creating or improving institutional capacities, teaching, research, knowledge transfer and technology.
  • To contribute towards the generation and application of scientific and technological developments crucial to development, in accordance with the international agenda for cooperation, the Millennium Development Goals and the  horizontal and sectoral objectives and priorities of the 2009-2012 Plan for Spanish Development Cooperation.
