Given the devastating situation in Nepal, with almost ten thousand deaths, and the latest earthquake that hit the west of the village of Namche Bazaar (north-east of Katmandu), the fundraising campaign to help victims has been extended until next Friday 15 May.

The funds raised, almost three thousand euros so far, will be used to cover victims’ basic needs and will be channelled through the Spanish Red Cross.
The campaign fundraising pro HAIYAN TYPHOON victims in the Philippines finished last 15th December. Total amount got to € 3,145, of which the University of Alicante, through its humanitarian aid budget, has contributed € 2,000. The sum collected will be used to assist the emergency appeal by SPANISH RED CROSS, to purchase staples and installation of water treatment plants in the affected area
Through its Department for International Relations and Cooperation, the University of Alicante has made a financial contribution of € 1,990 towards emergency aid for victims of the tropical storm "Ida" from last November. The funds will be directed towards addressing the widespread losses in bean and maize crops grown by communities and cooperatives in the Central and Paracentral region of La Libertad, El Salvador. The aid will be channelled via La Paz through the NGO "Entrepobles", currently implementing a project in this area to promote food sovereignty through CONFRAS cooperatives (Confederation of Associations of the Salvadoran Agrarian Reform).
