The Asia-Pacific Relations Office was formed in the 1998-1999 academic year with the name of ‘Oriental Studies Center’.
Promotion, development and maintenance of exchange agreements within Asia-Pacific Higher Education universities.
Logistic and administrative coordination with Asia-Pacific partners’ universities for supporting exchange students to/from Asian –Pacific destinations.
Design, organization and teaching of courses of Chinese and Japanese Language for the university community and those interested in morning and afternoon sessions, as well as Saturdays, during the academic year.
Furthermore, APRO is forming a bibliographic collection of language, international commerce, history, literature, art, thought and religion, international policy and international relations within Asia-Pacific countries, available in UA General Library.

As a result of the agreements signed with them, the University of Alicante, every academic year, welcome students from these institutions and send UA students there, under the Non- European Mobility Program.
Labors of advice and representation
The Asia-Pacific Relations Office represents the University of Alicante in its international policy within countries of the Asia-Pacific region, attending to higher Educational Fairs held in that specific geografic area, establishing and maintaining good relationships with Spanish embassies, consulates and commercial offices in Asia as well as with different Asian organizations in Spain, to facilitate and channel academic exchanges.
